Course Opportunities
In addition to the courses listed in the Program of Studies, students have these additional learning opportunities available to them. Students should see their counselor for program details and scheduling.
Independent Study Program
The Independent Study Program at Cohasset High School offers 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to pursue self-directed learning experiences under the guidance of a faculty mentor. This program allows students to explore a subject of personal interest in depth, develop a structured plan, and produce a final project that demonstrates significant learning and effort. This program also functions as the capstone project for the CHS Pathways Program. For more information on pathways, please see the Program of Studies.
Teaching Assistant Program
The Teaching Assistant (TA) Program at Cohasset High School provides 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to earn elective credit by supporting teachers in the classroom. Students gain hands-on experience in education, leadership, and subject-matter support while teachers benefit from dedicated assistance during their instructional blocks.
The program is coordinated through the School Counseling Office. Teachers request TAs each quarter and students in need of an elective block may apply for available positions.

Virtual High School
Virtual High School is a globally recognized and accredited program of online learning. VHS may be an excellent opportunity for the student who seeks to challenge him/herself, is interested in a field of study that is not currently offered, or simply enjoys using technology and wants the challenge and flexibility of a high quality online course.
