The Safe Harbor Cohasset, Inc. Christine Murphy Scholarship is a unique opportunity for current Safe Harbor Youth Ambassadors to apply for a college scholarship. The Coalition recognizes that the dedication of our youth is where we see the biggest changes in underage substance use. This scholarship acknowledges the importance of our Youth Ambassadors and the fact that addressing substance use and mental health with their peers is a challenging task.

As the founder of Safe Harbor Cohasset Coalition and the Chair for 6 years (2014-2020), Christine Murphy worked tirelessly to foster a strong and inclusive Cohasset. A Cohasset that encourages healthy, educated and responsible choices about drug and alcohol use by promoting communication and collaboration. During her time as chair, Christine role modeled great leadership and exuded a passion for reducing stigma, igniting conversation, and changing the culture. Christine Murphy Scholarship

The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc. offers scholarships for undergraduate students, (including high school seniors who will be first-year students in the Fall) and graduate students who will be attending accredited colleges and universities. Gosnold, Inc., the Cape's largest provider of addiction and mental health services, is offering $2,500 scholarships to two graduating seniors who have been accepted and are entering college in the Fall of 2024.  The student must plan to major in psychology, social work, or another field of study that is relevant to addiction and/or mental health. Journalism Scholarship

Any high school student in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is eligible to apply.  The scholarship is not academically based, but is awarded on the basis of need.  The committee is looking for exceptional leaders and people who have proven this leadership within their school.  In addition, the committee will give more serious consideration to those students who have made efforts to make a difference in their communities.  Applications are due before March 15, 2024.

The Plymouth Chapter of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women will be awarding two scholarships to students in the Plymouth County area.  The student does not have to continue his/her education in the insurance field to be considered.  Deadline:  April 5, 2024.  

MAIW Scholarship

The MBA offers a scholarship to a Massachusetts resident with a declared major in a broadcast-related field and enrolled or plan to enroll at an accredited two or four-year school.  The student need not attend a college or university in MA to be eligible.  Deadline:  Friday, April 12, 2024

The New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) announces its Annual Essay Contest for high school juniors and seniors. NEACAC is an educational association of more than 3,500 secondary school counselors, college and university admission and financial aid counselors, and individuals who work with students in the transition from high school to post-secondary education.

High school juniors and seniors from NEACAC-member high schools in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont are invited to submit a 500-word essay on the following topic: 

The New England Statistical Society Scholarships for Underrepresented Minorities advances the representation of underrepresented groups in statistics and data science by supporting graduating high school seniors and first/second-year undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in a data science-related field (e.g., statistics, quantitative fields in social science, math, engineering, and computer science). NextGen Scholarship

Pilgrim Festival Chorus is pleased to offer two scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to two graduating seniors who will be pursuing music studies at the college level, including music education, performance, composition, musical theater and music therapy.  This scholarship is being offered to graduating seniors in the South Shore communities of Carver, Cohasset, Duxbury, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Marshfield, Middleboro, Norwell, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Scituate and Whitman.  

The winners of the PFC scholarship will be announced at the PFC spring concerts and at the schools’ award ceremony.  The award will be disbursed following documentation of successful completion of the first semester in the student’s freshman year. 

There are many talented young individuals on the South Shore and we look forward to reading their applications and learning why they are inspired to major in music. Applications for scholarships are available at Pilgrim Skating Arena, 75 Recreation Park Drive, Hingham, Massachusetts. This is the 51st consecutive year that Pilgrim Skating Arena is awarding scholarships to high school seniors planning to further their education. Pilgrim has granted 579 merit-based scholarships totaling $2,262,500.00. You do not need to be a hockey player or figure skater to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded based on merit, not financial need. Interested seniors must sign for their application in person when picking up at Pilgrim’s pro shop. All applicants are required to sign the log sheet. The scholarship applications will be available on February 14th thru April 5th. When returning the completed application, you are required to sign the log sheet. All applications must be returned in person no later than Friday April 5th. Applications will be judged by members of the Pilgrim Scholarship Committee of the Pilgrim Skating Arena. 

Established in 2019 to honor Progress co-founder Mary Székely (pronounced: “See-kay”), the Progress Software Mary Székely Scholarship for Women in STEM is a $10,000 four-year renewable scholarship for a Massachusetts woman, including those identifying as a woman, who plan to major in computer science, software engineering, IT and/or computer information systems.

The Red Sox Foundation’s New England Service Scholarship initiative recognizes graduating high school seniors across New England who are making a meaningful impact through service in their local communities by awarding them a $1,000 college scholarship. We will award ten $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to enter an accredited college/university for a two- or four-year course, with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must reside in the greater South Shore region of Massachusetts, encompassing communities such as Abington, Braintree, Cohasset, Duxbury, East Bridgewater, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Kingston, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Rockland, Scituate, Weymouth, Whitman. Additionally, applicants must either live with type 1 diabetes or have a sibling diagnosed with it.

Each year, we select a new class of Henry David Thoreau Scholars: eight to ten top-ranking high school seniors from Massachusetts who demonstrate the potential for environmental leadership and intend to pursue interdisciplinary environmental studies in college.  Each Henry David Thoreau Scholar receives a four-year scholarship of up to $25,000. In addition, Thoreau Scholars are eligible for an environmental internship stipend, which usually takes place between junior and senior year.
