The Safe Harbor Cohasset, Inc. Christine Murphy Scholarship is a unique opportunity for current Safe Harbor Youth Ambassadors to apply for a college scholarship. Each year, we select a new class of Henry David Thoreau Scholars: eight to ten top-ranking high school seniors from Massachusetts who demonstrate the potential for environmental leadership and intend to pursue interdisciplinary environmental studies in college.  Each Henry David Thoreau Scholar receives a four-year scholarship of up to $25,000. Journalism Scholarship

Any high school student in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is eligible to apply.  The scholarship is not academically based, but is awarded on the basis of need.  The committee is looking for exceptional leaders and people who have proven this leadership within their school.  In addition, the committee will give more serious consideration to those students who have made efforts to make a difference in their communities.  Applications are due March 15, 2025.

The Annual AFL-CIO Scholarship and Labor Education Program is in its 66th year. Through the program, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO and affiliated unions are proud to award financial resources to high school students pursuing trade union programs or college/university study. ­The Massachusetts AFL-CIO administers half a million dollars of scholarship awards on behalf of unions and labor councils throughout the state. Individual awards range from $500 to $16,000. 

In order to be eligible for a scholarship, students must be a senior in high school and take the Labor History Exam. The Massachusetts AFL-CIO publishes a Labor History Study Guide, which covers a broad range of the history of working people organizing for justice in the United States.

The New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) announces its Annual Essay Contest for high school juniors and seniors. NEACAC is an educational association of more than 3,500 secondary school counselors, college and university admission and financial aid counselors, and individuals who work with students in the transition from high school to post-secondary education.

NextGen Scholarship

Pilgrim Festival Chorus is pleased to offer two scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to two graduating seniors who will be pursuing music studies at the college level, including music education, performance, composition, musical theater and music therapy.  This scholarship is being offered to graduating seniors in the South Shore communities of Carver, Cohasset, Duxbury, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Kingston, Marshfield, Middleboro, Norwell, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Scituate and Whitman.

This is the 51st consecutive year that Pilgrim Skating Arena is awarding scholarships to high school seniors planning to further their education. Pilgrim has granted 579 merit-based scholarships totaling $2,262,500.00. You do not need to be a hockey player or figure skater to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship is awarded based on merit, not financial need. Interested seniors must sign for their application in person when picking up at Pilgrim’s pro shop. All applicants are required to sign the log sheet. The scholarship applications will be available on February 14th thru April 5th.
